About Coventry
Coventry Catering grew out of a general store in Plainfield NH. During the summer months the store’s capacious porch area became a cafe called the Coventry Cafe. The first customer for catering was the Plainfield School District, which is still a valuable customer six years later. Catering was further expanded when the cafe was asked to tender for a contract to provide on site training lunches for a computer software company in Lebanon. That contract is now in its fifth year.
In 2004 the general store closed and Coventry Catering found a new home at the Hotel Coolidge in historic White River Junction, Vermont. Since that time it has handled all of the hotel’s conference business whilst expanding its client base in the business community of the Upper Valley. Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center has been a particularly good source of clients either directly through various departments or through the pharmaceutical company representatives who service them.
In six years the company has been in business, its catering has covered the gamut from in home catering for four to outdoor meals for five hundred. Most of its offerings center around business lunches in the hotel or on the customer premises, but it has catered its fair share of weddings, anniversaries, and other celebrations, with menus from canapes, to Irish stew and soda bread for the Irish Rover’s concert, to succulent carved prime rib, to outdoor barbequing and pig roasting.
While expanding the client base is the most obvious way to grow business, we plan to solicit establishments in the food service business that might wish to subcontract out their food production either on site or as a deliverable. We believe that we do an excellent job in the area of food cost control and in these days of rising prices that is a marketable skill.
